8/23 Feed Favorites

2020 has been the longest year in forever. At the same time I can't believe it's already the last week of August and my kids go back to school tomorrow. The Summer was never-ending, yet fast, at the same time. With so much uncertainty the last few months I wasn't sure how I would approach the new school year.

I like to plan. To have all the things done in advance to relieve the stress. Well, that didn't seem to be the case this year no matter how hard I tried. Seeing as we received the class schedules this afternoon, less than 24 hours before school starts. I can't even imagine how my children must feel heading into middle school, never having walked the halls, found the classrooms, met the teachers or located their lockers, before the first day of school. My anxiety is in overdrive for them. Holy cow. There is no way I would have survived. But, we are in a different time. Yes, it's challenging, but it's also a time for growth. To make us uncomfortable. To stretch us in ways we didn't know we could.

It will be an interesting year for sure, but we are opening our arms (from a safe 6' distance) to what is to come. A new school. New friendships. New learning. It has been, and will continue to be a time for memories and stories that will be told for generations to come. The "I used to walk uphill both ways in the snow" stories my dad used to tell most certainly will evolve into something unique when my children are old enough to tell their own stories.

Here's to an exciting time. To becoming better. To doing what we love. Wishing all a wonderful new school year full of memories.
